About Me

I started my career as a teacher of writing who believed in portfolio assessment as a powerful reflective experience. This belief allowed me to hone my assessment and feedback skills and convinced me of the power of formative feedback. My portfolio work led me to supporting other educators who wanted to emphasize reflection and feedback – a staff developer was born.

Since then, I have facilitated long-term professional development programs for K-12 educators related to diverse assessment practices, curriculum design, instruction, and action research. Currently I support the development of blended high school curriculum for OC21 (Online Courses for the 21st Century) and for a NYS Learning Technology Grant Consortium of 12 high schools in Westchester and Putnam County. These blended courses combine best practices in curriculum, instruction, assessment and technology integration with an emphasis on authenticity, equity and student voice.
